An Ode To My Best Friend(s)

An Ode To My Best Friend(s)

To my best friend(s)

The girls and women I share myself with – thank you. Thank you for letting me be myself.

For giving me the space to show up in every single form I take.

From the drunken, hormonal mess, to the wise big sister and the contented listener. Thank you for allowing me the safety and freedom to express myself how I see fit.

You see, I carry every iteration within me, and it’s hard to manage them all. What mask should I wear today; who should I become? A girl can become lost in those thoughts.

Having the space to share them all is something I never even imagined would be possible. Finding someone who sees all of me and not only accepts, but loves her? To be free to be every version of yourself?

That’s magic.

I’m forever grateful we crossed paths. The world really knew what it was doing when it put us in the same playground/room. It knew we were supposed to love like this – to support each other’s growth and expression withoutjudgement. To witness the development of a woman who is fun, and beautiful, and confident – without concern and without question.

You support her when she needs it most, and because of this can only be me because of you. I am who I am because you gave me space.

It is said that the most important relationship a woman has is with her girlfriends. And I think we wrote that rule book.

You make me proud to be the woman I’m becoming.

Words cannot thank you enough.

Here’s to more adventures together, I love you

Speak soon.

Rachael.
