My First Project Pan | No Buy 2020

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas or general holiday season doing things that you love! Now that all of that excitement is over, let’s get back into making plans for the new year.

I think by now readers of this blog will know that I’m going on a no buy in 2020.

If you don’t, I have a couple of posts on the subject and you’ll be getting regular updates about it when the time comes.

Anyway, in order to make things a bit more exciting for myself and in an attempt to encourage me to actually use the things I own, I’ve decided to try my hand at project panning.

This is something I have seen a lot on YouTube (here is a good starter video for you). It’s essentially a project or community dedicated to making the most out of the makeup you own.

The object of a project pan is to use your makeup so much that you ‘hit pan’ on your products, which means that you’ll be able to see the little metal pan underneath the powder.

I’ve never tried to do a project pan before and I’m excited to see how much makeup I can actually use throughout 2020.

I’m going to be showing the five products I’ve decided to focus on for my first project pan. Some of these I have already ‘hit pan’ on so my goal is try and use the rest of the product up.

Basically, I’m trying to make things a bit easier for myself so I can keep motivated and on track.

So, without further ado, here are my products for my very first Project Pan.

• ZOEVEA EN TAUPE PALETTE

I’ve had this palette for a while now and you can see that some of the shades have been well-loved. However, since acquiring a lot more eyeshadow over the years, I don’t find myself reaching for this palette as much which is why I’m including it in my project pan.

I want to try to hit pan on all of the colours by the end of the year. Even if this doesn’t happen, I want to try and make the absolute most of this palette and reach for it more often than I do now.

• BEYONCE HEAT PERFUME

This may be considered as a ‘cheat item’ for a makeup project pan, but it’s still a beauty project so I’m okay with it. I’m not a massive wearer of perfumes yet I have tonnes of the stuff. This was a gift a couple of Christmases ago and it is probably one of my most used bottles.

I really like this scent and it’s suitable for everyday (even when I’m sitting at home alone writing) so I’m hoping to finish this bottle quite quickly in 2020. Then I can move on to using some of the other scents I have and try to become a perfume girl.

• FENTY BEAUTY KILLAWATT HIGHLIGHTER: METAL MOON

Okay, so I fell for the hype of this brand when it was first launched and couldn’t wait to get my hands on something. This wasn’t a very well-thought out purchase yet is perhaps one of my most expensive makeup items to date.

However, as you can see I’ve managed to make quite a dent in this and I would like to keep going with this progress in 2020. Highlighters are kind of a weakness of mine and they’re something I always want more of, yet I have too many and never make the use out them. Hopefully, this project pan will change things for me.

• NYX LIQUID SUEDE CREAM LIPSTICK: SANDSTORM

Yet another hyped product that I couldn’t resist. Does anyone else remember the buzz about this lipstick a few years ago? Don’t get me wrong, I really like this product and I’m a big fan of brown lipsticks, but I’ve had this one for so long now that it just needs to be finished.

I really like NYX as a brand and I think their products are good quality, but for some reason their liquid lipsticks don’t agree with me. I love the colours and the feel of them but they either go really dry or kind of crumbly on my lips, which is what this one does. Nonetheless, I paid for it and I want to get the use out of it. This one should be finished quite early in 2020.

• NYX MATTE LIPSTICK: WHIPPED CAVIAR

This lipstick was one that I lusted over for so long while I was at university because a Youtuber I was into at the time wore it a lot. When NYX finally landed in my local Boots, this was the first thing I bought from them.

Again, it’s had some good use since I first bought it, but 2020 is the year that it reaches it’s full potential and gets completely used up. This is a nice purple/pink shade that looked better on the Youtuber than it does on me – I’m very pale! – but I’m still going to use it up.

Have you ever done a project pan?

I’m not sure if I’m properly abiding by the rules of project pan as a lot of these products are almost used up anyway, but like I said at the beginning of this post I don’t want to make things too hard for myself for my first time.

I really want 2020 to be the year that I make use out of everything I own and feel content with the things that are in my life. I’m hoping project panning will reduce the constant need I have for new makeup, as I can see what amazing things I already own as well as understanding how long it all takes to use up.
