Waiting For The High Moments

Waiting For The High Moments

Have you heard of ‘post-concert blues’? It’s been a phenomenon for as long as big, live events have been a thing, but thanks to our younger generation it now has a name.

Post-concert blues describe a specific event, but the emotion can show up after any celebration or high moment. It’s the disappointment and sadness that comes when something you have looked forward to has finally come to an end.

While you’re grateful for the experience and happy to have had a good time, returning to your daily life can feel somewhat underwhelming.

Even if the event was small, feeling a bit sad after is totally valid. After all, having things to look forward to is a big part of having a good life (in my opinion) and when that goes away, you may struggle to pick yourself back up.

But, as annoying as it is, waiting for these high moments – only coming alive when something fun and exciting happens – is no way to live.

You are missing out on so much in between, and doing yourself a great disservice by putting your life on hold until the big events come around again. Sure, your everyday routine may not be as fun as screaming the lyrics to your favourite song along with hundreds of other people, but that does not mean it is any less valuable.

Life happens every day. While we need these big events to make memories, waiting for them to happen is a huge waste of your time and potential.

This is why I believe in that you need to create your own magic and make a conscious effort to find bliss in the most mundane of days.

Truly enjoying a cup of tea, calling a friend, sitting in the sunshine, or hugging your pet are all small examples of the high moments that you can consciously create in your daily routine. Instead of waiting for that big thing to come around, allow yourself to experience varying levels of bliss every single day.

From dancing on the beach with your friends to cuddling on the couch with your favourite hot drink, life is a serious of high moments – as long as you know where to look.

This is my call to you (and myself) to be present, to allow each day to be as it is, and find joy in a whole range of activities. Both the small and large events play a role in who we are, how we feel, and the life we lead so let’s give them both the respect they deserve.

Speak soon,

Rachael.

  1. I can resonate with this… I do try to find joy in the simplest things/activity..on a day to day basis.. and that actually helps to build appreciation for life…💞😃💞
